    Congratulations to all our Somerville school players and coaches for a hugely successful Secondary Schools National Tournament in the first week of September.

    A special shoutout to those Somerville players and coaches who brought home medals for their schools!

  • Senior club celebrate the 2024 season

    2ND SEPTEMBER 2024
    On Friday the Senior club came together at Sorrento’s in Cornwall Park to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of the 2024 season.

    We had record attendance this year with 168 guests.

    Doors opened at 6pm, starting with the teams awards at 7pm, breaking for dinner half way through, then finishing with the club awards. The dance opened once the formalities finished, that saw endless requests for DJ Rick, and some interesting dance moves.

    Congratulations everyone, and well done on a great season. Hope to see you all next year.

  • Irene Ryan elected as AHA Life Member

    4TH MAY 2024
    Last month at Auckland Hockey AGM, Irene Ryan was elected unanimously as a Life-Member of Auckland Hockey.

    Congratulations to Irene, another wonderful accolade across her decorated Hockey career and recognition of her ongoing contribution and commitment to the sport.

    We look forward to recognising Irene in front of her peers and loved ones in due course.

  • Premier player, Bre Catley debuts for the Blacksticks

    This weekend, Bre will be making her debut for the Blacksticks. Congratulations!

    Having come up through the Blacksticks pathway, and achieving a great list of credentials:

    -Junior North Island Team 2021
    -U21 North Island Team 2022
    -Junior Blacksticks Team 2022
    -Oceania Junior World Cup Qualifiers 2022

  • NZ teams announced for Masters World Cup

    28TH MARCH 2024
    After the National Masters Tournament in Wellington, Hockey New Zealand have announced the teams that have been selected to represent New Zealand at the Masters World Cups being held in Cape Town and North Harbour later this year.

    New Zealand have the very first Women's 70+ side, and in the team we have three Somerville players: Jocelyn Murphy, Irene Ryan and Karen Knox.
    Also representing NZ is Mark Pooley for the Men’s 50s. And Kevin Towns who is coaching the Men’s 55s.

    Congratulations to you all and good luck.

  • Glyn Clarke nominated as Life Member

  • Saying farewell to club legend, Graham Norton

    15TH NOVEMBER 2023
    It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Club legend and Life Member, Graham Norton who passed away yesterday morning.

    The Somerville Club sends our love and deepest sympathy for the Norton family.

    A service is held for Graham on Sunday 19th November at 1pm at Dils Funeral Services.

  • Life Member David Watts sadly passes away

    29TH AUGUST 2023
    With great sadness we announce the passing of Club legend and Life Member David Watts, who passed away last Thursday, 24th August. The Somerville Club sends our love and deepest sympathy to David's family.

    David was an outstanding player in the 50's, having captained the Auckland and New Zealand teams. He later served as a Committee member for many years, including as Secretary (1979-81), Chairman and President (1989-90). He remained a stalwart supporter of the Club.

    The Watts Cup is awarded annually on the Men’s side of the Club, an ongoing reminder of the prominent role the Watts family has played in Somerville Club history, from its inception until today.
